01. The Challenge

In this residential chalet nestled in the mountains, the client required a lighting system that could deliver both refined atmosphere and technological precision. The objective was to integrate RGBW ambient lighting into the architecture in a way that was both invisible and intelligent, ensuring full flexibility over color management, scene control, and energy performance, all within a KNX-based automation framework.

02. The Solution

We developed a comprehensive lighting automation system based on KNX and DALI-2 DT8 protocols, tailored to the specific architecture and lifestyle needs of the client.

Implemented features:

  • DALI-2 DT8 drivers for full-spectrum RGBW LED strip control, enabling precise color and brightness adjustment using a single DALI address per channel.
  • Custom lighting scenes integrated into KNX logic, allowing seamless transitions from functional to mood-based lighting across different rooms and times of day.
  • Control via wall-mounted KNX keypads, touchpanels, and remote access through a unified mobile app.
  • Scene automation linked to time schedules, presence detection, and sunset/sunrise tracking, optimizing comfort and energy efficiency.

All equipment was carefully selected to maintain architectural purity, with recessed LED strips and concealed devices preserving the warm materiality of the chalet’s wooden interiors.

03. The Result

The completed system provides a discreet yet powerful user experience. The lighting dynamically adapts to the resident’s routine, from soft morning whites to vibrant evening ambiences, enhancing both well-being and spatial quality.

By combining DALI-2 DT8 RGBW control with a robust KNX backbone, we delivered a scalable and energy-efficient solution that meets the highest standards of both design and performance.
